South Atlantic Bank Takes Shape in Murrells Inlet

Myrtle Beach, SC (February 23, 2009) – The Murrells Inlet branch of South Atlantic Bank is progressing with new
on-site signage and steel building frames.

In the past three months, the construction of the new branch in Murrells Inlet has been moving forward at a steady
pace with an expected completion date of September 2009. The recent addition of a permanent sign and the
beginning stages of steel framing have served as a representation of the bank’s progress. Designed and constructed
by Haynes Signs in Murrells Inlet, South Atlantic Bank’s new sign is a positive enhancement to the intersection of
Highway 17 Bypass and Tournament Boulevard.

With the construction of this new branch in Murrells Inlet, and the groundbreaking of another soon to come in the
heart of Myrtle Beach, South Atlantic Bank is leading the way for an unprecedented second year of success.

“We have experienced significant growth and great customer response during our initial sixty days of operation in
our modular building,” states President, Scott Plyler. “With the recent addition of our permanent signage and the
construction of our building well underway, the community can see our commitment to the South Strand.”

The newly constructed portion of the building provides a glimpse of what is to come. It is planned to be a 10,000
square foot, two-story facility with the bank occupying the first floor and leasing space for a tenant on the second
floor. ESD Architecture and Design out of Charlotte, NC is the architect and interior designer for the new branch
while Dargan Construction Company of Myrtle Beach is the general contractor. South Atlantic Bank received
approval for the new location from the FDIC and the South Carolina Board of Financial Institutions on May 13,
2008.

While construction is underway, a full-service modular branch is open for business at 11019 Tournament Boulevard,
at the corner of Tournament Boulevard and Highway 17 Bypass.

The Murrells Inlet branch offers full banking services including retail, commercial and mortgage lending, night
depository services, and no-fee ATM.
